Regarding the double tree redevelopment proposal, I am shocked but not surprised that (again) the greed of a developer/flagship parcel owner leads to a request for a height exception.

Height regulations are here for a reason — to preserve the feel and appearance of our favorite city. If every single flagship development comes with a height exception, then we negate the very purpose of the height limit. Height exceptions should remain that: exceptional. “Without a height exception, I can’t make enough money with this project to satisfy my greed level” is not a satisfactory reason.

These days, beyond city appearance and feel, the height restriction is one of the last tools we have to help slow down continued frenetic growth.

Say no to height exceptions!
