I was fortunate enough to meet Megan Mckenna when she taught my 11th-grade AP Environmental Science class, which also happened to be the last year she taught at Park City High School after 11 years as an educator.
Throughout my experience with her as my teacher, it was made abundantly clear that she’s filled with love and care for where she grew up.
During that year, she taught us about various topics relating to sustainability and the environment, from a global and local level. This teaching method allowed us to understand and apply concepts to our hometown and encouraged us to learn and care about our home.
Ms. McKenna has always been acutely aware of the problems plaguing Summit County, from the rising cost of living to drought, climate change, traffic, and more. It amazes me how she seems to tackle these problems head-on. Her experience as an educator, ski patroller, and affordable housing advocate, combined with her local mindset, makes her an exemplary candidate for those who want to be represented by someone who knows and deeply cares about Summit County.
Ms. McKenna is somebody who had a profound impact on me, as it was her actions, both in and out of the classroom (she truly walks her talk!), that inspired me to pursue my studies in environment and politics. Her character makes her such an ideal candidate. Not only is she willing to work hard to see a better future, but she naturally inspires others to pursue their goals, inevitably making a better place for all of Summit County. My vote is for Ms McKenna!
