Booker T. Jones at The Egyptian Theatre
Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Musicians Hall of Fame inductee Booker T. Jones continues his run Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 at the Egyptian Theatre, 328 Main St. As part of the first house band for Stax Records, he formed the category-defining group Booker T. & the MGs, whose first recording, “Green Onions,” was an international sensation, selling more than one million copies and winning a place among Rolling Stone’s top five hundred songs of all time. Echo Church Open Through Labor Day Weekend
Echo Community and Historical Organization has opened the historic Echo Church for summer tourists through Labor Day weekend. The church, located at 60 Temple Ln., in Echo, is currently showing “Chugging, Screeching, Rumbling, Billowing: Utah’s Industrial Revolution” exhibit from the Utah Division of Arts & Museums. The public can visit the church from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday and on Labor Day. The church will continue to be open Saturdays through Labor Day weekend. Miners Day Used Book Sale
Friends of the Park City LIbrary’s annual Miners Day used book sale will run Sunday, Sept. 1, and Monday, Sept. 2, at the Park City Library, 1255 Park Ave. Friends of the Park City Library members will be admitted for a two-hour, pre-sale preview at 8 a.m. on Sunday, before doors open to the general public from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Memberships can be purchased at the door or at friends-of-the-park-city-library.square.site prior to the sale. The Monday sale will run from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Monday, and there will be a tote-bag happy hour from 2-4 p.m. where shoppers will be able to fill a provided bag for $15. Miners Day Celebration
Park City will celebrate Miners Day on Monday, Sept. 2, and the day will kick off from 7:30-9:30 a.m. with a breakfast cooked by Saint Mary’s Catholic Church at City Park. The morning continues at 8 a.m. with the Miners Day Bark City 5k Run, City Park, a dog-friendly race organized by the Twilight Rotary. Main Street will then come alive with the Running of the Balls at 10:30 a.m., right before the start of the Miners Day Parade at 11 a.m. From there, food trucks and a beer garden will be set up at City Park, and the public will be able to enjoy live music, kids games and historical presentations at Miners Hospital until 4 p.m. The after noon will also feature mucking and drilling contests from 12:30-3 p.m. For information, visit parkcityminersday.org.
Park City Farmers Market
The Park City Farmers Market runs from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. every Wednesday throughout the summer at Park City Mountain’s First Time chair lift parking lot. Admission is free. The Park City Farmers Market, which has been running for 21 years under Volker Ritzinger, features fresh, non-GMO produce, local meats and other local offerings.
