Crews from the Utah Department of Transportation’s Kamas office last Monday started the annual ritual of opening S.R. 150 from Kamas to Evanston, Wyoming. Tuesday they encountered snow depths above Provo River Upper Falls nearly six feet deep in some places. They are using three snowblowers, one bulldozer and a snowplow. The Park Record will update their progress this week. On Thursday morning, the gates to Empire and Gaurdsman passes will open for the summer.
