Michael Johnson

– December 30, 2023

Michael Johnson, beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend was taken from us suddenly and unexpectedly on December 30th. Michael was born in Denver, Colorado in 1991 and he and his family moved to the Park City area in 1999. He attended schools in the Park City School District and attended the University of Utah for two years studying computer science.

Michael enjoyed skiing, soccer, gaming, and rollerblading at the skate park. He was talented with music, starting with the piano at age five and then taking up the trumpet in school where he progressed to enjoy playing with the high school jazz band. He excelled in school, graduating with multiple advanced-placement course credits. He was adept with computers; he taught himself how to program at a young age and later in life, played complex computer games at the highest levels of skill. He was employed performing software engineering work for a trucking fleet communications company. His talents and creativity touched many people around him.

Michael was a caring, funny, smart, and thoughtful person. He cared for his family and friends with deep loyalty. Later in his life, he struggled with depression, anxiety, and addiction. In recent years, he made major strides toward recovery. Michael will be missed. He was a light in our lives that is gone too soon. We believe he has now found the peace that he deserves.

He is survived by his parents, Tom and Wendy, and his sister, Kara, along with aunts, uncles, and cousins. A memorial will be held June 9th at 2 pm at the Hailstone Event Center at Jordanelle State Park.
