On Tuesday evening, a 17-year-old worker fell from the roof of a three-story townhouse at 13318 North Highmark Court in the Park’s Edge subdivision near the northern border of Wasatch County.
According to Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Josh Probst, the adolescent was working for a contractor on the roof of the building as the day drew to an end. As his coworkers packed up their things and got ready to leave the job site, he returned to the roof to gather something that he had left.
Though the Sheriff’s Office hasn’t found anyone who directly witnessed the young man fall, he plummeted to the ground below.
The Wasatch Fire District joined the Sheriff’s Office in arriving at the scene, where they found him in critical condition. He was flown to a trauma center via AirMed.

As of Friday afternoon, neither the Sheriff’s Office nor Wasatch Fire were aware of the worker’s current condition, though an individual working on a roof near the site of the accident told The Park Record he is alive and remains in the hospital.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor’s website, it is generally illegal for anyone under the age of 18 to labor on a roof. The Sheriff’s Office has turned the situation over to the state to investigate.
The Park’s Edge subdivision is managed by Advantage Management and Real Estate Services LLC, a company based in Orem. Though they confirmed they are responsible for the upkeep of the townhomes and subsequently the roofing, they did not respond when asked which contractor they hired for the job being performed during the incident.
