Uncover the allure of uncommon al fresco dining during the off-season. Enjoying a meal inside a cozy alpenglobe amidst Park City’s tranquil off-season is an experience in simplicity and splendor. During what locals call “mud season,” our vibrant ski town transitions to a time of peaceful repose. The streets quiet down, and these restaurants offer a sense of exclusivity that’s hard to find during the bustling winter months.
Alpenglobes are not just design marvels capable of withstanding the whims of mountain weather; they are vessels of tranquility. From within, diners are treated to a 360-degree view of nature’s artistry as seasons shift. The experience is enriched by a Bluetooth state-of-the-art sound system that heightens the meal with ambient melodies of your choice.

Stein Alpenglobes at Stein Eriksen Lodge
As one of the first properties in Utah to offer the alpenglobe experience to guests, the lodge features six globes situated across the deck area, offering stunning views to diners. All meals are available in the alpenglobes, in addition to wine tastings and many have become the backdrop for special occasions such as marriage proposals.
As you take in the mountain vistas, try Stein’s signature item served year-round—the Stein Burger. “I think it is the best burger in the world,” says Vice President of Food and Beverage Operations and Corporate Chef Zane Holmquist.
Stein Alpenglobe reservations are for 90 minutes and require a $200 reservation fee for daytime service and $250 for dinner. Reservations can be made through the host stand and online through Resy. First come, first serve. The last day of service is April 15, after which the resort reopens May 10.
Montage Alpenglobe Dining on the Apex Terrace
Renowned for its breathtaking panoramas, the Montage boasts additional allure with its two exclusive alpenglobe dining experiences on the Apex Terrace. Guests can indulge in any meal amidst the privacy and novelty of an alpenglobe.

“We have an a la carte menu for the alpenglobes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and a 5-course tasting menu for dinner that we created specifically for the alpenglobe,” explains Executive Sous Chef Oscar Valles. “It focuses on our luxury items like caviar and our lobster bisque. We also focus on local ingredients, so we work with local ranchers and source the Wagyu beef here locally.”
“We really have two seasons at the Montage: winter and summer, and our menus focus on those two seasons,” continues Executive Chef Kevin Hee.
Alpenglobe rentals range from $125 for breakfast, $200 for lunch, and $350 for dinner for 90 minutes. The rental fee is in addition to the food and beverage minimum per person depending on meal.
Top of Main Street Alpenglobe at Grappa

The alpenglobe on the patio at Grappa boasts incredible views of Main Street, which patrons enjoy year-round. During mud season, diners can avoid the crowds while enjoying deals and discounts. At Grappa, this is the time of year they are experimenting with new menu offerings, and oftentimes, guests will be sent those offerings in exchange for feedback.
“The coolest part about the alpenglobe is that you get to enjoy our patio experience that is so sought after in the summer, and we can extend that somewhat throughout the year,” says Corporate Chef Ben Fillmore. “We always offer an amuse bouche in the alpenglobe, a little taste to differentiate that you are at a special table. The offering varies seasonally.”
Each evening, the alpenglobe is open for a 5 pm and 7:45 pm seating with a $500 food and beverage minimum.
With a kitchen fire on September 7, 2022 that spared the restaurant structure but caused Grappa to undergo an extensive rebuild after the flames moved through the ventilation system, The Bill White Restaurant Group officially reopened the Italian venture on May 12, 2023.
“Some of our biggest challenges [after the fire] were the unknown, not knowing initially what the extent of the damage was, what the insurance coverage was, the future of our jobs as restaurant employees,'” recalls Matt McMillian, COO of Bill White Restaurant Group. “What we could promise them is that they would not go hungry, and fortunately, we could keep that promise and take care of the staff.”
