Meredith Reed for school board

I am writing to voice my support for Park City School District Board of Education candidate Meredith Reed. I have come to know Meredith through our mutual membership in the Park City Rotary Club. Meredith’s experience as a leader with respect and empathy for others is evident through her service as an Air Force chaplain, a strong strategic planning and communications project manager, a community leader, and a dedicated parent. Meredith’s work with Rotary aligns with her character; seeking the truth, and fairness, fostering friendships and pursuing benefits for all. The Park City School District will be well-served with Meredith as a board member.

Park City concerns

When my wife and I moved to Park City from Cincinnati 15 years ago, we were impressed with how little crime there was to be.

Since then we have noticed an increase in concern over cougars that have been put down because individuals put their dogs outside in the middle of the night. We have noticed an increase in concern about traffic trying to get into the city. We have noticed a concern, a couple years, ago when a youth ordered drugs on the internet.

What we have not seen is an increased concern about drugs coming into the community.  The police reports indicate they are finding it in cars on I-80.  The number of deaths in the USA, from fentanyl alone, increased from 57,834 in 2020, to 71,238 in 2021. Do the parents of our community not understand thousands of these pills are coming across the southern border? Recently, they discovered some of the pills have been developed in China to look like candy. The Mexican cartels are using the flood of illegals (that means they are not legal) to move these drugs into the USA.

When do we get concerned about the safety of our youth?

Canice Harte for County Council

I’d like to encourage everyone to vote this November, and I hope you will support Canice Harte for County Council.  I have known Canice for many years, initially through our Park City Rotary Club.  He has become a great friend and a stalwart advocate and supporter of our community. A Marine veteran, he has since been a successful business entrepreneur and has also worked in the non-profit field.

Canice did an outstanding job on the Snyderville Basin Planning Commission for years, approaching issues thoughtfully, knowledgeably and with an open mind.

He is extremely thoughtful, a great listener, innovative and decisive. Canice also has a compassion for helping others and has been a Summit County Search and Rescue volunteer for many years along with his volunteer work with Rotary and elsewhere. He has given a lot of hard work, knowledge, and experience serving our community. He has a wealth of leadership experience, business experience, volunteer experience and life experience that will make him an outstanding leader on the Summit County Council.

I hope you will join me in supporting Canice Harte!
