The recent dog attack on a child while skateboarding a quiet section of the rail trail in Prospector at twilight has exposed a shocking display of self-concern, negligence and indifference.
As the young skateboarder and his friends encountered a man with a baby and what appeared to be a labradoodle, their cautious approach was met with a vicious and unprovoked attack by the dog. Despite real injuries to the child’s leg and hand, the man did not accept blame for his pet’s actions and briskly walked away without offering any assistance.
This disturbing incident serves as a stark reminder to our growing community’s need for compassion and to intentionally be a place where individuals prioritize the well-being of others over self-interest. This is a call for all of us to foster a culture of empathy and accountability, ensuring incidents like this are never repeated.
