I am a 79 -year-old man who became involved in politics at the age of 14, handing out leaflets for Governor Albert D. Rosellini, of Washington State. Later I served as Walla Walla County assessor and am a lifelong Democrat. The Park Record headline, “Biden wows in Park City,” with one attendee at the fundraiser saying it was courageous of President Biden to visit Utah made me chuckle.
Courageous? Certainly not the definition of courageous I know.
I’m not sure he visited Park City: didn’t he visit The Colony, an upscale gated community for a fundraiser which, to attend, required a donation of $3,300 to $10,000? Had the President visited with the working folks of Park City, perhaps the impression he left would be different. Maybe he did make other stops in Utah and hopefully he did visit with some regular folks.
Politics, like everything in the modern world, is based on the saying, “follow the money.” Our electoral system is no longer about people but about how much money it takes to run for national office.
