Anyone who has lived in Park City for many years has noticed a boom in tourism and its effects on traffic. I recently conducted a survey that found that 100% of longer-term locals agreeing with the above statement, and the underlying cause being mega-pass skiing companies such as Vail and Alterra (aka Ikon).

Therefore I am calling for action from these companies to help find a solution for a problem they brought among us. This consists of a reduction of resort-side parking spaces, an increase in the price (considering the vast majority of days were fully booked at Park City Mountain with parking costing $26), and with that a small percentage of the proceeds being donated to the Park City public transportation system.

You may question now: “With decreased amounts of parking and it being more expensive, what do I do to get to the ski resort?” That is where the Park City public transportation system comes in.

With a solid foundation already and from the idea pitched above regarding a small percentage of proceeds made off parking being donated to the Park City transportation system, it is an idea that uses and expands the system to its maximum ability.

With four park-and-rides around town, and frequent buses (that have the ability to become more frequent with the input from a percentage of parking money), there is potential for fewer cars and traffic in Park City.

That is, considering the companies that summoned the problem take action.
