I support Megan McKenna for Summit County Council. In serving on the County Council, I have worked closely with many elected city and county councils across the state, and I have noticed the most highly functioning councils work through disagreement with respect for each other and the public. They stay in difficult conversations with each other even when they would rather disengage.

I have seen Megan time and again engage in hard public conversations from a place of respect and genuine curiosity for people’s perspectives and concerns. She studies issues, engages with the public, and considers all information and perspectives before making an ultimate decision.

Summit County, like all local governments, needs councils composed of thoughtful, respectful leaders, and Megan is one of those leaders.

Megan has a long and varied experience in Summit County. She grew up skiing the same slopes we all enjoy today and going to the same public schools. When she graduated, Megan gave back in appreciation for the opportunities the community had given her. She worked as a ski patroller, keeping people safe on the mountain. Megan taught at Park City High School, fostering skills, knowledge, and curiosity in the next generation.

When Megan was lucky enough to get an affordable housing unit, she didn’t take that opportunity lightly. She chose to again shift her career, leverage her work, higher education, and lived experience to support other community members in getting affordable housing.

Megan knows what it’s like to work hard, endure, and overcome challenges and obstacles. She will respectfully engage in difficult situations until solutions are reached. Megan deeply values giving back to a community that has given all of us so much.

Join me in supporting Megan McKenna, a leader who will guide our community from a place of respect, compassion, and thoughtfulness.
