This Friday, Temple Har Shalom will host a screening for local movie fans. At 7:30 p.m., the temple will join with the Salt Lake City Film Center, the National Ability Center and Park City’s Christian Center to show the Dani Menkin documentary, “39 Pounds of Love.”

The film, which won the 2005 Israeli Orphir Award for Best Documentary Film, tells the story of Ami Ankilewitz, an Israeli 3-D animator who, because of a form of muscular dystrophy, was predicted to die by age six. The film shows him at 34, with his bodily motion limited to the use of a single finger, traveling to the U.S. to confront the doctor who predicted his early death.

The screening is free and open to the public. Temple Har Shalom is located at 1922 Prospector Ave. For more information, call 649-2276.
