While winter might be in full swing, the Friends of the McPolin Farm will be out on the fields Saturday, March 11. That evening, from 6-9 p.m. Friends of the Farm will hold its annual snowshoe event on the snowy meadows around the McPolin Barn.

White Pine Touring will provide free snowshoe use for those unequipped. The event will include dinner at 7 p.m. in the farm shed, along with live music from Dave Howard and Friends.

Bring a flashlight for nighttime snowshoeing, along with water and warm clothing. Lemonade and ice tea will be served and are included in the ticket price.

Tickers are $20 per person and will be available at the Park City Library starting Friday, Feb. 24. A portion of the proceeds from each ticket will go toward the restoration of The Farm. For more information, call Briggita at 649-0411.

Park City to host photographers next weekend

Saturday, March 4, will see a pair of noted photographers visiting town. That evening, from 4-8 p.m. Scanlan Windows to the World will host photographers John and Debora Scanlan for a reception, while a bit up the street, Images of Nature Gallery will host a reception for photographer Thomas Mangelsen from 5-9 p.m.

Writers @ Work seeks entries for fellowship comp

The 2006 Writers @ Work Conference, which will be held June 19-23 at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, is looking for unpublished creative fiction, nonfiction and poetry for its 2006 Fellowship Competition.

Winners will receive a $1,500 cash prize, a reading at the conference, a free manuscript consultation and reduced workshop tuition.

The judges for the event will be Steven Almont, Bruce Beasley and Suzanne Paola. Entries must be postmarked by March 1 and there is a $15 fee for all entries.
