One Book, One Community: author Kali Fajardo-Anstine
Kali Fajardo-Anstine, author of “Woman of Light,” this year’s One Book, One Community read, will give a free presentation and do a book signing at 7 p.m., on Wednesday, Aug. 14, at the Park City Library’s Jim Santy Auditorium, 1255 Park Ave. “Woman of Light” is a novel about Luz “Little Light” Lopez, a tea leaf reader and laundress, who finds herself alone to preserve her family traditions and history in 1930s Colorado. Historic Glenwood Cemetery Tours
Park City Museum will host tours of the Historic Glenwood Cemetery from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays through Aug. 30. Park City Film Screenings
Park City Film continues the Studio Ghibli Film Festival with a screening of Studio Ghibli Founder Hayao Miyazaki’s “The Wind Rises,” rated PG-13, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15, at the Park City Library’s Jim Santy Auditorium, 1255 Park Ave. The film will be screened in Japanese with English subtitles, and a post-film presentation will be given by Dr. Cindi Textor, assistant professor in the Department of World Languages and Cultures at University of Utah. Reckless Kelly at the Egyptian Theatre
Americana stalwarts Reckless Kelly will bring its farewell tour to town with a four-night run, Thursday, Aug. 15, through Sunday, Aug. 18, at the Egyptian Theatre. From its roots as a barnstorming Idaho outfit to its modern-day status as a torchbearer for independent Americana music from coast to coast, Reckless Kelly has tied Austin rock and cowboy poetry together since the mid-1990s. Saturday Morning Nature Walks at the Swaner Preserve
Saturday morning nature walks are held at 8:30 a.m. every Saturday at the Swaner Preserve & EcoCenter. The cost is $10 per person and $5 for local residents.
