Carol Dysinger is a filmmaker, director and cinematographer. Her film, “One Bullet,” is the opening film for 2024 Slamdance, a prestigious opportunity of which she feels honored, she said. “One Bullet” is the story of an Afghan mother learning to live after the loss of her son who was struck by a stray bullet during the Afghan War.
Dysinger spent 15 years in Afghanistan shooting various aspects of the war, the resulting suffering and broken families. After meeting Bibi Hajji during her filming process, “One Bullet” morphed to tell a unique story from an unexpected perspective. Dysinger is also an Associate Professor at New York University Tisch Graduate Film School.
