Jacob Crane is the executive director and founder of Cultural Fire Events, a newly formed nonprofit dedicated to preserving his and others’ indigenous heritage. “I’m originally from Tsuut’ina Nation, located in Alberta, Canada, just on the south side of Calgary,” he said.

Crane now lives in Midvale, Utah, and will be emceeing an event featuring traditional Indigenous powwow dances at Flanagan’s on Main, Wednesday, Jan. 24. “Representation is really important here at Sundance, to help indigenous people involved in different parts of the film. To have an event at Sundance is huge for us, because we’re more grassroots,” said Crane.
