The Canyons Resort

Utah ski resorts
The following Utah ski resorts are open and scheduled to open weather permitting: Alta is reporting a 28-inch snow base with 70 runs and 10 lifts open; Beaver Mountain, Dec. 15; Brian Head is reporting 12 inches of snow with 1 lift and 1 run open; Brighton is reporting a 22-inch snow base with 20 runs and 4 lifts open; Powder Mountain is still waiting to open; Snowbasin is reporting a 26-inch snow base with 8 runs and 2 lifts open; Snowbird is reporting 29 inches of snow with 38 runs and 5 lifts open; Solitude is reporting an 22-inch snow base with 8 runs and 6 lifts open; Sundance, Dec. 8; and Wolf Mountain, TBD.
Cross-country skiing
White Pine Touring says skiers have already taken to the course. The track at Park City Municipal Golf Course is slated to open when weather permits. The touring center is open for business but the track is still closed. For more information, call 649-6249.

Wasatch-Cache National Forest
Mirror Lake Highway, S.R. 150, is now closed at mile marker 14 at Soapstone Basin. All campgrounds are currently closed and the ranger district is waiting for enough snowfall to start grooming cross-country trails. For more information, contact the Kamas Ranger District at (435) 783-4338.
Utah Avalanche Center
The Utah Avalanche Center, as of Friday, Nov. 24, is reporting avalanche danger as low on most slopes. However, a moderate danger still exists on northwest, north and northeast facing slopes above 9,500 feet and steeper than 35 degrees. The danger is also moderate on steep slopes with recent deposits of wind-drifted snow. Backcountry users are still urged to proceed with caution.
