The Park City Miners’ season came to a close last Thursday, falling to the Green Canyon Wolves in the 4A state semifinals. The game was held at Utah’s Rice-Eccles Stadium, where the Miners struggled to move the ball against the vaunted Wolves defense, eventually losing 21-0.
While Park City’s quest for a first state title ended with disappointment, players and coaches raved about the potential of their 2024 team.
“Hopefully this fuels them, is what I told them, to work extra hard,” said Head Coach Josh Montzingo. “Really make sure we don’t take some weeks off, or take anything for granted in the weight room, or eating, or playing an extra sport to get better, faster and stronger. I hope they take that to heart and we come back bigger, faster and stronger next year.”
Montzingo’s star QB Lincoln Jackson, a soon-to-be graduating senior, echoed his message and belief in next year’s squad.
“They will return here,” he said. “They’re a special group of kids led by Bash Bodily. Bash Bodily is one of the coolest kids I’ve had the pleasure of meeting.”
Bodily, who finished the season playing wideout, threw for 800+ yards and 10 touchdowns while Jackson was recovering from injury.

While you never know if the Miners or any team will be able to replicate their success the next season, Montzingo made it clear there are other, more-important priorities.
“We don’t do it for wins and losses, although it’s super fun to play here and win, and have a good season,” said Montzingo. “I’m excited to be a part of their lives and watch them grow.”
Park City will likely kick off their 2024 campaign in early August, though they’ll be missing many of the familiar faces the home crowds have grown accustomed to seeing on Friday nights. They’re sure to be one of the favorites in 4A, where Lincoln Jackson thinks they can shoot for it all.
“They’re ready for it, and I have no doubt they’ll be back here,” he said.
