Park City Council will meet Thursday at 4:10 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall.

Agenda highlights include the following, courtesy of the city:

Bonanza Park Small Area Plan Work Session and Possible Adoption

The council will review a draft of the Bonanza Park Small Area Plan, previously forwarded to them with a positive recommendation from Planning Commission. Councilors will hold a public hearing and consider adopting the plan.

Open Flames, Ignition Sources and Fireworks Prohibition

The City Fire Marshal recommends the council consider prohibiting ignition sources, including open flames and fireworks, throughout the Park City Municipal boundaries from July 11 through October 31. Council will review and vote on the proposed ordinance.

According to a staff report made available ahead of the meeting, the above-average precipitation over the last two winter and spring seasons and cooler-than-normal temperatures increased the loading of fine fuels, such as tall grasses, leaves, shrubs, and branches. The current weather data predicts a mix of rising summer temperatures with intermittent cooling periods that produce greater winds, the risk of dry
lightning, and below-average mid- to late-summer monsoonal rains.

As the fine fuels dry throughout July and August, higher fire danger is likely as the summer continues. These environmental conditions, coupled with the established wildland fire areas throughout the City, create fire safety concerns for residents, structures, and wildland areas that we aim to minimize and mitigate.

Resolution to Establish Nonprofit Services Committee

The Nonprofit Services Committee is a proposed public body that would help guide the City’s policies and partnership programs with area nonprofit organizations. Councilors will consider a vote on a proposed resolution to form this committee.
