August 14, 1950 – December 20, 2023

Barbara Evelyn Johnson, 73, passed away December 20, 2023, in Park City, Utah from breast cancer. She was born August 14, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois, and adopted by Raymond and Winona Wiese.
Barbara attended Northern Illinois University where she was part of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and earned her Doctorate in Education in 1980. Following graduation, she co-authored two textbooks while working as a professor at National Louis University and the University of Utah where she was able to share her passion for teaching early childhood education of reading and writing.
In 2000, Barbara made a career change to commercial real estate, where she worked for Colliers, NAI Utah and CBRE. She was proud of her ability to advocate for her clients while still maintaining a solid relationship with property owners. Barbara was an active member in CREW, SIOR, CCIM and other industry groups.
Barbara’s consistent refrain was that her son Edward and daughter Julie “are the most important parts of my life.” Barbara was a fierce advocate for her children by constantly pursuing their success in school and sports. She shared her love of skiing with both of her children starting them at the age of two at Deer Valley, which is where the family had some of their fondest memories.

Outside of her children and work, Barbara enjoyed skiing and golf. She was a proud member of Jeremy Ranch Golf and Country Club and a season pass holder at Deer Valley since the 1980’s.
Barbara is survived by Edward Johnson and his wife Katrin Sharp of Hailey, ID, Julie Hygon and her husband Ryan of Glenwood Springs, CO, and her beloved Golden Retriever Jackson. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:30 pm on January 25, 2024, at St. Luke’s (Silver Springs) Episcopal Church in Park City, Utah with a light reception to follow.
