Local Realtors lend a hand to area nonprofits

The Park City Board of Realtors has announced it has funds available for qualified Summit or Wasatch county nonprofit organizations that provide affordable housing to Utah citizens. Grant applications will be accepted through March 24, 2006.

According to a recent press release, the Park City Board of Realtors has distributed $17,635 to local nonprofit housing projects since the inception of The Utah Association of Realtors Housing Opportunity Fund in 1999.

The Utah Association of Realtors Housing Opportunity Fund is a nonprofit foundation established to assist other nonprofit organizations who deal with affordable housing needs by offering grants. The Opportunity Fund is accumulated from interest earned on real estate trust accounts and through contributions. The majority of the monies collected are returned to the community from which they were donated, with a portion set aside in a statewide fund for special statewide projects and disaster relief.

To be eligible for funds, organizations must be based in Utah, have a housing-related mission and be a nonprofit agency with a 501 c 3 status.

For more information and to obtain an application, call Sharon Woodbury at the Board of Realtors at 649-4112.
