The Summit County Commission last week appointed a sitting planning commissioner from Peoa and a Hoytsville man to serve on the Eastern Summit County Planning Commission.
Planning Commissioner Ray Milliner was named to a second term and Mike Brown was appointed to his first four-year stint on the board. Brown replaces Doug Geary who served the maximum nine years on the Planning Commission. The board meets each month on the first and third Wednesdays.
Woolstenhulme against beer at Peoa event
Last Wednesday was not the first time Summit County Commissioner Ken Woolstenhulme has opposed a beer license for an event promoter in South Summit.
Woolstenhulme claims some South Summit residents have complained about “beer being thrown around” in the park and he may vote against single-event beer permits in Peoa.
With a 2-1 vote, however, the County Commission authorized Woods Cross resident Bobby Marriott to serve beer during the upcoming Dirty Rotten Buckers Spring Fling at the Peoa Rodeo Grounds.
“The purpose of the event is to have a bucking horse contest,” Summit County Deputy Clerk Launa Blonquist said.
County Commissioners Bob Richer and Sally Elliott voted to approve the permit.
