After pleading guilty last November to two felonies for having sex with a 14-year-old girl in Summit County, Andrew Jackson Davis, a 30-year-old martial arts instructor from Pleasant Grove, was sentenced to up to 20 years in prison.
This week, a Fourth District Court judge tacked on up to an additional 30 years for similar crimes Davis perpetrated in Utah County.
Davis was charged last spring in Silver Summit Third District Court with felony rape, aggravated burglary and for unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon after he was arrested at a house in Peoa on May 4.
Investigators said the victim was at school around 10:30 a.m. the morning her guardian reportedly noticed Davis’ legs and arms under the girl’s bed.
“[Davis] had broke into the house up there and was hiding underneath the bed,” Summit County sheriff’s Chief Deputy Dave Booth said at the time of the arrest.
According to authorities, Davis attempted to flee through a window but was taken into custody and found to be carrying a gun in his waistband.
He pleaded guilty Nov. 2, 2005, to aggravated burglary, a second-degree felony, and unlawful sexual activity with a minor, a third-degree felony.
But when he was sentenced in Snyderville in January Davis also faced multiple felony charges for illegal sexual contact he allegedly had with a Utah County girl during the summer of 2004. Judge Samuel McVey on Feb. 28 ordered Davis to serve two additional one-to-15-year terms in the Utah State Prison.
Davis pleaded guilty in Utah County to two second-degree felonies for sexual abuse of a child. He was also ordered to pay a $1,160 fine.
“I’ll bet the Board of Pardons hangs on to [Davis] for seven or eight years,” Summit County Attorney David Brickey said Thursday. “He’s stealing the innocence from these kids.”
