Summit County firefighters are battling a small brush fire that started around 10:30 a.m. on Monday near S.R. 248, west of Kamas.
The fire was estimated to be 3 acres at 11 a.m. and increased to 20 acres an hour later.
Several structures in the area are threatened, according to Utah Fire Info. Air and ground resources were dispatched around 10:30 a.m. on Monday.
Crews stopped the fire from progressing around 12:30 p.m. and it was 5% contained.
“Wildfire moves very fast, especially under our dry, hot conditions here in Summit County. It’s important to be prepared and have a plan if wildfire comes to your area,” county officials stated.
One westbound lane of the highway was closed. The Utah Department of Transportation estimated it would be cleared later in the afternoon.
There were no evacuations, according to Summit County Communications Director Derek Siddoway.
