Summit County Sheriff’s Office deputies stopped a car traveling eastbound on Interstate 80 for several traffic violations over the weekend. They later arrested a 34-year-old woman with a large quantity of drugs.

Deputies spotted the vehicle near mile marker 158 on Sunday and stopped it, according to charging documents. The woman was found to have several active warrants out of Evanston, Wyoming. A K9 was also deployed on the vehicle and indicated narcotics may be present.

Deputies searched the car and found 156 counterfeit fentanyl pills, a distributable amount, as well as methamphetamine, LSD and drug paraphernalia for personal use. The drugs were in the woman’s purse, according to the Sheriff’s Office. She was arrested and taken into custody.

A small amount of marijuana was also found. A passenger in the vehicle claimed it and was cited.

The woman faces several charges, including possession with intent to distribute and possession of a controlled substance. She’s being held in the Summit County Jail without bail as deputies worried she would flee. The active warrants included felony conspiracy drug charges, failure to appear and probation violation.

The Sheriff’s Office responded to several other calls between Monday, July 29, and Sunday, Aug. 4, including reports of driving under the influence, assault and drugs.

Deputies arrested a man for felony assault in Pinebrook.

Saturday, Aug. 3

Summit County Search and Rescue was notified about an overdue party in the Rockport area. The man told his family he had to swim to shore because his jet ski ran out of gas. They didn’t hear back from him. The man was later found asleep in his vehicle.

Area law enforcement attempted to locate a vehicle on S.R. 32 after it was reported to be road-raging and tailgating other vehicles. A Utah Highway Patrol trooper located the car and performed a traffic stop. An open container of alcohol and three firearms in the backseat were observed. The driver admitted to drinking one beer, and he agreed to participate in a standardized field sobriety test. He performed poorly and a breath test indicated his blood alcohol content was .210. The man was arrested and transported to the Summit County Jail.

Friday, Aug. 2

Deputies were dispatched to the Canyons Village area after a white powdery substance was found at an employee workstation. The substance tested positive for cocaine. Deputies attempted to contact the individual they believed to be involved in the incident, but were unsuccessful. The drugs were booked into evidence and destroyed.

Wednesday, July 31

Former Olympian Brett Camerota was arrested for violating a protective order. The Park City-based Nordic skier was charged with domestic violence-related assault earlier this year.

Monday, July 29

Search and Rescue received several reports of overdue parties. Two individuals were in the Henry’s Fork area and the other was by Watson Lake. Mounted Patrol located the group at Henry’s Fork in good health while they were on their way. The other individual was found before Search and Rescue arrived.

A 37-year-old woman is facing two felony kidnapping charges. A man said his ex-girlfriend took their two children from their Silver Creek home and wouldn’t tell him where they were. The father had full custody of the children and worried the woman would leave the state. Deputies located the woman and took her into custody. The children were returned to their father.
