A semi-trailer rig struck a concrete barrier on I-80 early Saturday, killing a passenger who was ejected from the cab. The driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Utah Department of Public Safety.
The accident happened around 4:30 a.m. when the driver of the semi towing a 53-foot trailer lost control and impacted the right concrete barrier at Lamb’s Canyon (westbound).
The semi detached from the trailer and rolled down the north embankment. The trailer remained on the freeway, blocking all the westbound lanes.
