From its mining town history, vast fields of open space, and stunning landscapes of the Uinta Mountains, Park City boasts picturesque views that attract visitors who want to find themselves immersed in outdoor adventure.
Those interested in discovering the community’s scenic streets and epic trails this summer should consider exploring on two wheels. Parkites are committed to a healthy, sustainable lifestyle, so several options cater to both leisurely riders and avid cyclists.
Exploring via E-bike
Electric pedal-assist bicycles, known as e-bikes, are similar to traditional bicycles but have a motor that helps ease the burden of steep, high-altitude inclines on riders. Conquering hills or traveling long distances allows everyone to explore without becoming too tired.
Summit County launched its electric bicycle sharing program, Summit Bike Share, in 2017 which allows people to rent an e-bike at low cost, making it a great choice to explore the surrounding community. There are about 300 e-bikes in the system that are available for rent 24/7 from approximately 30 stations in the Park City area including Main Street, Prospector, Deer Valley, Canyons Village, and Jeremy Ranch.
The Summit Bike Share works by asking riders to purchase a pass. Individual passes are $4 per ride for up to 30 minutes. A four-day pass with unlimited 45-minute rides can be purchased for $20, a monthly pass with the same restrictions is $45, and a seasonal pass with 90-minute rides is $130. Additional time can always be added for 18 cents per mile.
Once the rider makes their selection, e-bikes are unlocked using a mobile app or pass card. They can be returned to any station when the ride is over.
Riders are encouraged to wear a helmet and educate themselves about path etiquette, safety, and rules before taking off.
Although bike regulations differ in various parts of the community, e-bikes are allowed on paved trails in Summit County and trails wider than five feet in Park City. They are banned on single track trails in both jurisdictions with the exception of people 65 and older on single track trails within Park City limits. Individuals with mobility disabilities are exempt from the ban in all areas.
A map of local trails is provided on parkcity.org under the “E-Bikes on Pathways” page. For more information, please visit summitbikeshare.com or call the customer service line at
