We hear a lot about the presidential race on the news but there are important races locally that affect us. One of those races is for County Council Seat C, and I encourage everyone to vote for Megan McKenna.
Megan is uniquely experienced for this seat and Summit County needs her skills and knowledge.
The County Council’s role has a broad and varied mandate (hsummitcounty.org/314/County-Council). Megan’s diverse background as a teacher, union organizer, ski patroller, trainer and housing advocate has honed her skills as a leader, listener and negotiator who can respectfully engage in tough conversations.
Megan is committed to making this community the best it can be. She knows we are at an important juncture in planning and development in Summit County. Megan’s platform is future forward, meaning she is thinking about the steps we need to take today to make the coming decades livable for all of us.
Through the years Megan has met and heard from many different types of people living in Summit County, from families of the wealthy to those just trying to get by. As a lifelong resident of the county, she truly understands what it is like to work, live and raise a family here. She will listen to and integrate all perspectives when advocating for productive change while making sure to honor the county’s heritage, beauty and diversity.
When making decisions to guide our future as a county, it is important that our elected officials be well versed in all that our community consists of. Megan McKenna is that candidate. Her experiences and skills will allow our County Council to make not only hard fiscal decisions but also assure those decisions positively impact and improve the lives of those in our community.
Megan McKenna has worked our jobs, taught our children, organized our local unions, understands our land and knows our history. She will bring these important perspectives and experiences to the council meetings and be uniquely placed to represent these voices.
Please join me in helping her get there, for all of us: mckennaforsummitcounty.com
