The article in the Park Record on Aug. 10 discussed the potential plans for the transit center area of Kimball Junction.

Canice Harte commented on creating meaningful spaces where not just residents, but others in the area, will want to visit. The ideas suggested for the area such as a green space, amphitheater, water features, etc., are already across the road. Harte suggested that “we don’t really have a lot of that in the community.” We have enough in the area.

The committee is right that these types of things attract people from outside the area. How are they going to address the additional traffic when they haven’t addressed the traffic that already causes major delays across the road?

It took an hour to get from Kimball Junction to the Park City Hospital on a recent Wednesday night at 6 p.m due to lane closures on I-40, and during ski season it’s just as bad.

There is enough density in this area and adding any additional commercial and residential apartment buildings are only going to cause total gridlock. Any structures that are above the road are going to destroy the calming, mountain views the residents that reside in Kimball Junction enjoy.
